What Krishna Can Teach Us About Internet Marketing.

No, Krishna wasn’t an internet marketer, obviously, but I’m aBIG  fan, and the more I study the life of Krishna, what he taught us and how he lived his life, there’s a lot Krishna can teach us about internet marketing. To start, Krishna had all the qualities and characteristics of a brilliant marketer, and ironically, those qualities are the very same things we are taught today with respect to becoming better internet marketers and effective business owners.Let’s see what they are…Be a teacher. Krishna was probably the best teacher that ever lived.  That’s because he lived his faith, understood it and studied it almost to a fault. What that tells us is that we need to practice what we teach.  Isn’t that what we as marketers are called to do?  We learn by doing and by failing.  Not everything you do will be successful, but your failures can be shared too, just like your successes can be shared.  We all have something to learn from someone who does and knows what they are talking about. Our ministry as internet marketers is to teach our visitors and customers things that will help them.  It’s how we build trust and loyalty.
We can also teach in a variety of ways.  For example, affiliate marketers can boost their affiliate marketing commissions by teaching and helping  others to make the buying decision.  We can also benefit by teaching our customers how to use our products and how our products or services can benefit them.Any time you can teach someone something, it builds their trust and faith in you.Be a story teller.  Telling your story or any story is a powerful way to get people to listen.Krishna never said,  “This is what you need to do, so just do it.“   He demonstrated the concept by telling a story that drove his message home in a way his audience could understand. In a similar way, I could tell you that writing articles is what you should be doing to promote your business online, but the message and it’s effectiveness is much better understood if I can tell you my article writing success story.  If you don’t have a story, go out and create one.The story of your experience is how to demonstrate what you are teaching.  It’s what makes people listen.Speak and teach with authority. People listened to Krishna.  Why?  Because he spoke with authority, meaning he spoke with confidence.Part of speaking and teaching with authority is thinking the part and believing in what you are saying.  Be certain in your tone and avoid using works like maybe, ‘kind of’ or perhaps. Not always an easy task but having confidence is a mindset and it takes practice.   I still have to practice it every day :-)Just remember whatever you teach, teach with authority.  Be confident in what you are teaching and others will have confidence in you.
Cultivate a following. Krishna didn’t have Twitter and Facebook 20,000 years ago but he knew a thing or two of the value of gathering followers and he knew how to get them.Anyone that listened to Krishna and understood what he was teaching was happy to follow him.  That’s because he spoke with authority :-) , but  he also listened to them, talked with them, showed he cared about them and spoke to them often.   In fact he spoke to them several times a day.   He also mentioned other important figures in his time and in history that helped reinforce his message and he shared many pearls of wisdom.Creating your own following can be done the same way, connect with others often, mention colleagues or other niche experts that can help reinforce your message and offer wise thoughts that will help encourage and motivate.Help others first before promoting yourself.  Krishna was compassionate and caring. Often times he helped others first by healing the sick and feeding the hungry before he set out to preach or try to convince the multitudes of his message. We’re also called to do the same.  Give others your best first before trying to get something from them.   People will listen to you and follow you if you can help them first before thinking of yourself.Krishna had a message and he had a mission which was to teach us how to live, how to love and be compassionate, and he accomplished all those things by coming to the aid of others first.

So What has Krishna Taught us About Internet Marketing?

Krishna didn’t have anything to sell but his message and his message is still with us today. I think that’s a powerful sentiment.Krishna may not have been an internet marketer but I think he would have made a darn good one.  I also think it’s interesting how the very things we are taught to do today with regard tointernet marketing strategies come from a man that did the very same things over 20,000 years ago.

32000 year old Idol of Narsimha (Lord Vishnu’s Avatar) found in Germany

Many news about prehistoric founds and their possible meaning reached the world in the last decades. One of them, found in South Germany, puts scientist around the world in amazement. The centerpiece is the “lion man”, an idol that is made from the tusk of a mammoth in the form of a human body with a lion head. Amazingly it is dated back 32,000 years from now.
This discovery brought a lot of attention in the archaeological circles in Europe. In Excavations around 1930-35 at the Lonetal area near Ulm, German scientist already found an immense cave system with lots of prehistoric artifacts in it.
First, only representations of birds, horses, turtles and even single lions where found but not a morphological combination of men and animal. Naturally the “lion man” was quite outstanding and unique. It became also clear during the later examinations that the “lion-men” was used for ritual purposes, unlike the other items which seemed to have accompanied the dead and so on.
The Idol was found exactly at the place in the cave where day and night meet, about 20 meters away from the entrance and buried 1,20 meter deep under the ground. Many parts of the figure were broken and where found a little away in this area. Therefore it took some time to finish the work of completing and reconstructing the figure and to see it as a whole.

From the viewpoint of Vedic culture of ancient India, Lord Vishnu appeared in a divine human form with a lion face to protect his devotee and to stop religiousness. A description of a standing idol form of this lord is found in the agama silpa shastra and is called “kevala narasimha”. In India still many ancient temples exist, where deities of Sri Narasimha Bhagavan are worshiped, often at special locations like on high mountain peaks or in caves.
Many ancient, highly developed cultures had some kind of idols or pictures of lions with a human face or torso. A purely ritualistic Relic, like for example the Sphinx of gizeh or the Egyptian goddess of war sekhmetm, with a lion head, or Mithra, the Sun god of Persia, with a lion face, the Assyrian Gate Guardians of Babylon or the Etruscan lion with wings at the entrance of the Temple mountain at Troy are well known examples for this.
An now this amazing discovery in Lonetal in a deep cave which is directed to north east towards the little river lone. Extraordinary is also the exact position of the found of the lion-man. It immediately reminded me of the ancient story from the Puranas, known to all devotees of LordVishnu, where Hiranyakashipu, the great demon, achieved nearly immortality by the blessings of Brahma. This demon asked for the boon that he could not be killed by a beast or man, nor in the sky or on earth, not inside or outside a house, not in the day or in the night, not with weapons or by hand and so on. Lord Vishnu then appeared out of a column to kill this demon. But to fulfill the boon Brahma gave, he appeared at dusk and killed him on the doorsteps of his palace with his sharp nails.
It is off course difficult or maybe impossible to finally judge if this idol was a part of a global Vedic civilization but nonetheless our visit of the exhibition, where one can see the figure in a cave like hall, and our later trip to the original place of discovery where very breathtaking and mystical and made us meditate deeply about our predecessors and ancient times long ago where god was present directly on earth, or later in his idol form in many temples all around the world.
